Captain Jack Sparrow fans are outraged that the “Pirates of the Caribbean” franchise could go on without Johnny Depp.
The last entry of the massively effective Disney franchise was almost five years ago. According to CinemaBlend, rumors about a sixth film with a “predominantly female ensemble lead by Margot Robbie” had been circulating since 2020. Now, producer Jerry Bruckheimer is talking about the prospect of Depp reprising his role as Jack Sparrow.
According to Bruckheimer, the company is presently working on two screenplays for the next “Pirates” film. He stated that one of those contains Robbie and the other does not. Regarding Depp’s comeback, Bruckheimer stated that he was unsure what would unfold, but that there are no plans to bring Johnny back for the time being.
“Not at this time.” “The future is yet to be determined,” the producer stated.
Fans on social media were ready to point out that Depp’s portrayal of Jack Sparrow was largely responsible for the franchise’s popularity. They stated he was “indispensable” and that any sequels would be worthless without him.
“I have nothing against Margot Robbie.” “I appreciate her as an actress, but Pirates of the Caribbean is NOTHING WITHOUT JOHNNY DEPP,” an individual remarked. “It’s going to be a disaster.”
“I’m sorry, Disney…. You messed up. Another individual concurred, “There is no Pirates of the Caribbean without Jack Sparrow.”
Meanwhile, Depp is embroiled in a $50 million defamation lawsuit against ex-wife Amber Heard. During his testimony, Depp stated that he would never go back to the “Pirates of the Caribbean” franchise. The actor was dismissed from the franchise when Heard’s allegations of abuse became public, despite the fact that he was never prosecuted or found guilty.
The actor is enraged by how Disney handled him and has stated that he will not reprise his role as Jack Sparrow even if Disney offers him “$300 million and a million alpacas.”
During his evidence, Depp stated that the studio’s betrayal felt like somebody hit him in the back of the head with a 24.
He expressed that Captain Jack Sparrow was a character he constructed from the ground up and was something that he, of course, put a lot of himself into the role and also working on these films with these individuals and adding much of himself, much of his own re-writing of the dialogue and scenes and humor.
He can’t comprehend how, after that lengthy relationship, and clearly a good partnership for Disney, he was abruptly guilty until proven innocent.
Fans are hoping that the actor may reconsider, particularly if the verdict goes in his favor.
