Dick Van Dyke was in a car accident in Malibu… but averted serious injury.
According to law enforcement sources, police responded to a single-car collision complaint last Wednesday morning, and when deputies arrived, they saw Dick driving a 2018 Lexus LS 500 into a gate.
The 97-year-old film and television legend told cops that his car slipped and he lost control before crashing into the barrier, according to our sources. The streets in Los Angeles were wet from the relentless rain that had been falling.
According to reports, Dick was bleeding from the nose and lips and may have suffered a concussion. Although paramedics treated him on the spot, he refused to go to the hospital.
Drugs and alcohol were not involved, according to our sources… though detectives have sought a driving retest for Dick, citing his age as one of the difficulties.
Someone is believed to have picked him up from the scene so he wouldn’t have to drive home.
