Robert De Niro recently disclosed that he has become a father for the seventh time. During an interview with ET Canada, published on May 9th, the 79-year-old actor discussed his experience as a parent while promoting his upcoming comedy film, About My Father.
When the interviewer, Brittnee Blair, mentioned that he had six kids, De Niro corrected her by stating that he actually has seven children. He then revealed that he had recently welcomed a new baby. De Niro, known for his role in The Godfather, further shared his approach to fatherhood, expressing a preference for avoiding strict rules but acknowledging that sometimes it becomes necessary.
“And I believe any parent would agree with that sentiment. You always strive to make the best decisions for your children and give them the benefit of the doubt, but there are occasions where it’s simply not possible.”
A spokesperson for De Niro later verified to the publication that the actor now has seven children, although the identity of the mother remains unknown. The Independent has reached out to the representatives for additional comments.
De Niro and his former spouse, American actress Diahnne Abbott, share two children together, a daughter named Drena (51 years old) and a son named Raphael (46 years old). The couple was married from 1976 to 1988.
In 1995, De Niro became a father to twin sons named Julian and Aaron, who are currently 27 years old. He had them with his previous girlfriend, model Toukie Smith.
Additionally, De Niro has a son named Elliot, who is 25 years old, and a daughter named Helen Grace, who is 11 years old. He shares them with his former wife, Grace Hightower.
