After 23 days in a coma while struggling for his life, a Sheriff’s Deputy from Anderson County near Knoxville, Tennessee, has awoken.
According to sources, Sheriff’s Deputy Lucas Shoffner is now awake and alert, over a month after being hit by a vehicle with his wife, Nicole Shoffner, on August 1.
A pick truck hit the couple while they were trying to repair a chain on a tiny motorbike in Campbell County. Nicole was transported to Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center for x-rays and a CT scan of her skull. Lucas, on the other hand, had more serious injuries and was transported to the University of Tennessee Medical Center’s intensive care unit.
Lucas went into a coma and has been fighting for his life for the past 23 days.
According to the wounded couple’s GoFundMe page, Lucas shoved Nicole to the side as the approaching vehicle rushed towards them. In doing so, he very definitely saved his partner’s life, however he also received the brunt of the attack.
He was left unresponsive on the scene and was later brought to UT Trauma, according to the website.
He’s presently in TICU and has a brain hemorrhage, a broken skull, various facial fractures, and a blood clot in his major artery in his neck.
Right now, they’ve intubated him and implanted a central line as well as a “bolt” in his skull to relieve intracranial pressure. This is the most urgent prayer right now. If the intracranial pressure reaches a specific level, they will need to undergo more intrusive procedures. But, as expected, their fighter is holding strong for the time being.
The sheriff’s deputy, who is also a valiant United States Army veteran, is now awake, much to the delight of his coworkers and loved ones.
Let’s start praying for their buddy, the GoFundMe continues. If anyone deserves a second shot in life, it’s this man. He’s gentle, loyal, amusing, and as tough as a blasted ox. When they learned of his injuries, everybody said the same thing: ”He doesn’t deserve this.” He is the greatest of all time. What he DOES deserve is the outpouring of love, sympathy, prayers, and kindness from the whole community.
Nicole’s younger sister sweetly adds that, I f anyone knows Lucas and Nicole, they realize how much love they have for one another. They are the epitome of courage, dedication, compassion, and unconditional love. They are both really remarkable persons with delicate, compassionate souls. God is currently holding both of their hands. Please pray for them both, particularly Lucas, as they struggle for health and strength. They both have a long road to recovery ahead of them, and any time they can spend mending together, worry-free, is priceless. Keep them in your prayers and thoughts. She adores them both beyond words.
Raymond Surber, who was driving the truck when Lucas and Nicole were hit, is a Campbell County Sheriff’s Office officer, as per reports. According to the preliminary report from the Tennessee Highway Patrol, all people involved face charges, although none have been issued as of yet.
They’re all rooting for Lucas and Nicole as they work to heal from such a horrific catastrophe.
