So my boss hit me today
“I guess it’s a ‘what goes around comes around’ situation. She used to be very nice and sweet, than got very verbally abusive and now this. She cannot tolerate any kind of mistakes. And turned out it wasn’t even a mistake, everything was fine.
But she had a few pieces of printer paper in her hand and proceeded to hit me on my head about 7 times with absolute rage. She is the company owner together with her husband. And she also does all the HR stuff. It’s a small company.
Also it was in front of pretty much everyone in the office. I don’t know what to do. What’s next? Is she going to sucker punch me? Am I going to hit her back next time? Piss her off and make her fire me?
Request our it guys for the camera footage? Just quit? I won’t struggle. Put my own little camera in my cubicle and record everything? Is it even legal?
UPDATE:
So I received a couple of golden advises here and what I did this morning:
- Texted my manager and requested a day off because I feel so bad after what happened yesterday. And I described in my message exactly what happened, the impact it had on me and how exactly awful I feel right now. He texted me back immediately, from the company phone that he has, that he absolutely understands my reaction, how unprofessional it was and that we all will have to talk and work through it as a team. But he still wants me to come to work and that the Boss Lady won’t be in the office today to let things cool down a little.
- Then I texted to my coworkers with “did you see what happened yesterday ?” And also received a few messages like “yeah, we all need to carry a taser here”.
- Now I’m taking care of my belongings here and taking all the PTO I have left.
- Also I googled local department of labor and it has just 1!!! 1 star rating on google reviews. What an inspiring start.
- Looking for a lawyer but the only one I know in person was my OkCupid date a while ago.
- Quitting when I have a plan. Or just quitting. I’m absolutely not going to work here anymore.
