A Texas mother and her husband rescued a newborn who had been dumped in an outside shed after noticing strange behavior on a security video and hearing barking from their dog lead them to the infant.
Katharine McClain, 52, and her husband John McClain, 54, claimed they awoke early over the weekend to the sound of a vehicle pulling away from their Livingston home.
A guy without a shirt was seen on their surveillance video examining automobiles on the premises.
The parents contacted 911, and the infant was sent to a hospital in the Houston region for treatment.
The dad is now facing child abandonment accusations.
She is a mother, Ms. McClain explained. She was really agitated and stunned. It’s still got a hold on her a little.
The pair has volunteered to adopt the child and hopes the dad the best.
She just desires that the baby be joyful and have a nice life, Ms McClain said. If they give the baby to her, she’ll take her in a heartbeat and she’ll never have any concerns again.
Clifford Jason Guynes, 43, was eventually identified as the culprit through security footage and other evidence.
Guynes was arrested and his bail was set at $200,000.
Authorities are looking into why Guynes was freed from jail after a recent arrest in Texas. He allegedly has a criminal record that involves assault and narcotics offences.
