Turner fell in love with her future husband at first sight. When he had to pick her up from the airport in Germany before a show, they met. When they first met, she felt an immediate bond.
Turner stated that she was caught away by Bach’s superb features and that her heart skipped a beat when she first laid eyes on him. She concluded that it all indicated she had discovered true love.
Many things happening at the time might have easily caused the Tennessee native to disregard Bach, yet she trusted her instincts and made it a mission to learn more about Bach.
The music executive, who is 17 years younger, did not feel the same way at first. Bach subsequently stated he was working, but he and Turner got along well during the voyage.
His sentiments quickly shifted, and he fell as strongly for her as she did for him. Despite this, the pair married in 2013 after 27 years together.
Turner announced her retirement from the music industry on May 5, 2009, and ended her global success career with a globe tour. The megastar was over 70 years old when she gave her final performance on stage in Sheffield, England.
She developed life-threatening health problems after retiring. Turner was diagnosed with intestinal cancer and had a stroke, but recovered. The “Proud Mary” singer was diagnosed with kidney cancer in December 2016.
Turner wrote in her book “My Love Story” about her harrowing encounter, saying she was given just two options: “regular dialysis” or a “kidney transplant.”
She had a greater chance of life if she received an organ transplant, however the options were restricted. Turner’s physical condition was so bad that she contemplated assisted suicide since she couldn’t live without a kidney transplant.
Luckily, her long-time love stepped in to help. Bach volunteered to donate his kidney to his beloved wife, and the notion shocked her. He stated that he did not desire another lady or another life. Then he surprised her. He stated that he wishes to donate one of his kidneys to her.
Turner, still in shock, conveyed the overpowering sensation she experienced as a result of Bach’s extraordinary efforts to ensure that she lived as long as possible. Fortunately, the transplant procedure was successful, and she stated that she was happy, thrilled, and grateful to have made it through this alive.
