Valerie Bertinelli has a lot to be thankful for this November. Apart from Thanksgiving, she is enjoying her new position as a freshly and happily divorced woman.
The actress announced her divorce on Twitter, and she was overjoyed that after a year of waiting, she was glad to be free from her ex-husband, Tom Vitale.

Bertinelli said in the video, which was shot at the airport on her way to see her recently engaged son Wolfgang Van Halen, that the lawyer had just phoned her and that the documents were successfully finished and ready to be filed.
The delay was worthwhile since she would no longer be obliged to pay the $50,000 per month that her ex-husband, Vitale, requested. She will, though, have to give him a large sum of money.
Bertinelli discussed what she planned to do once she and her ex split and shared: When Ed and she divorced, she told herself that she’ll finish raising her kid, then move somewhere, get around 40 cats, and grow lovely and fat. She assumed she’d be alone for the rest of her life.
On November 24, 2021, Bertinelli filed for legal separation from her husband of 10 years, Vitale, and on May 12, 2021, she filed for divorce in Los Angeles Superior Court. A succession of incidents since then have made her hope for a swift resolution.
Vitale first attempted to prevent Bertinelli from claiming spousal support, then requested $50,000 in monthly support and $200,000 in legal expenses.
Despite the fact that the pair signed a prenuptial agreement before their wedding in 2011, Vitale has made this request. She fought the request in court and prevailed, preventing her from having to pay the demanded sum. She will, though, have to pay a large sum of money in the divorce settlement.
Bertinelli will still have to pay Vitale $2.2 million as a settlement for all disputes between them, according to court records. This is in addition to the $500,000 she paid Vitale on May 24.
Although it seems like a large sum of money, she can pay it off in 4.5 years. That is, without a doubt, a better bargain than spending $50,000 every month, which would end up costing her more in the long term. Bertinelli may enjoy her freedom now that they have achieved a definitive agreement, and she is celebrating the milestone and Thanksgiving with her family in Europe.
Bertinelli is upbeat and happy that she is finally free, considering the absurd amount of money she will have to pay as a settlement. Her divorce was finalized just in time for the Thanksgiving holiday, giving the Food Network star even more cause to be grateful.
She is presently in Italy with her family, enjoying her new single life. She seems to be having a great time in Milan, where she has already met and spent time with her brother Patrick Bertinelli, her son Wolfgang Van Halen, and his fiancée Andraia Allsop.
In a snapshot that shows the three laughing at the camera, the “Signed, Sealed, Delivered” actress shares photos of herself enjoying the time of her life with her son and his girlfriend. In another, she captioned a sweet photo of Wolfgang and Allsop, grateful, appreciative, and fortunate.
In a third image, the actress is seen drinking wine with her brother Patrick, who is seen kissing her on the temple. And in the fourth photo from her Instagram stories, she wrote that one has the right to end harmful relationships. One has the right to move away from individuals who have wounded them. One owes no one a justification for looking after oneself.
Bertinelli previously told Today’s Hoda Kotb that she would not be looking for love and was content with her single existence.
The mom of one is now embracing her new single status and spending time with her loved ones. She is getting ready for her son’s wedding and can’t wait to become a grandma.
