Authorities claim that a West Virginia man who was accused last week of viciously assaulting his sister, who emerged from a two-year coma and identified him as her attacker, has passed away.
On July 15, Daniel Palmer, 55, was arrested in Charleston and placed into South Central Regional Jail on charges of attempted murder and malicious injury for the assault on his sister Wanda Palmer in June 2020.
The West Virginia Department of Homeland Security said Palmer was “unsupportive while in custody and during booking procedures at the jail” in a statement.
After being assessed by jail medical professionals on Wednesday, he was sent to Charleston Area Medical Center General Hospital, as per officials.
The notification stated that he was declared deceased on Thursday.
His death was not further described.
On June 10, 2020, Wanda Palmer was brutally assaulted inside her trailer in Cottageville, West Virginia. Per a complaint, she was found to have been so severely beaten and covered in blood that the attending cops thought she had died.
She remained in a comatose condition for the following two years.
She miraculously began to regain consciousness last month and identified her brother as the attacker.
According to a complaint in the case, Wanda responded that Daniel attacked her because he was “nasty” when questioned about it.
Palmer got agitated at his initial court appearance last Friday, and cops had to take him outside.
Palmer has consistently denied being involved in the assault on his sister. As per the complaint, officials claimed that the brother had always been a subject of interest. A witness also claimed to have “saw Daniel Palmer in the front entryway of Wanda’s trailer at midnight on the night she was attacked.”
