My (28m) husband and I (29f) have been married for almost 2 years. That man is my absolute best friend and everything that I’ve ever dreamed of in a partner. Last week, something in my gut told me to look through his phone and I found exactly what I was hoping I wouldn’t.
A ‘calculator app’ with a password that I figured out, and it had 7 nudes of a girl that he used to work with in it. That was like a dagger to the heart. I immediately questioned him, and he told me that she sent him those months ago when they were still working together. First lie. I checked the time stamp on the photos and they had been sent within the last week or so.
After asking him what had been going on, his side of the story is that it started as friendly texting, it turned flirty, then she sent him those photos and he blocked her. Of course I didn’t buy it, so I called the girl to get her side. She had a similar story, except added that they had kissed a few times. That was the second dagger. After learning this new bit, I told him that I had spoken to her and if there were any details he left out, he needed to tell me now. He said he had nothing more to add. So, I asked him if it was true that they had kissed and he nodded his head yes. Third dagger.
I have been an anxious wreck since I found all of this out. I went 2 days without eating or sleeping, a few panic attacks and uncontrollable sobbing. We’ve finally gotten to a place where we can talk about it amicably, but I just don’t see very much remorse on his end, or at least as much as I’d like to see.
Has anyone been through something similar with their SO that can offer me some advice or just a little bit of peace?
