34-year-old Gary Coleman, a lance corporal with the Royal Engineers, was diagnosed with cancer in 2011. He didn’t have long, and his wife, Joanne, was pregnant.
Odds were extremely high that he was not going to see his child born, but his dying wish was to somehow be able to hold his baby in his arms before the cancer claimed him.
So Joanne and her doctors decided to induce labor early so her dying husband could have that chance to hold his child before the end came.
Gary DID get to hold and cradle his daughter Amba. Just seven days later, Gary died.
