A Nebraska woman wrote her late husband’s obituary in hopes to capture his legacy and leave a long-lasting impression.
While Crystal Sauser’s husband, Eric died after an almost two yearlong battle with leukaemia, she went to the funeral home to take a look at some obituary templates but she did not get what she was looking for.
Crystal said that nothing she read felt precise and felt like her late husband. So she decided to just write the obituary herself that has gone viral for her pleasingly funny yet profound take on the old-style passing notice.
Eric is survived by his wife, Crystal and three children named Amelia, Violet and Benjamin.
The obituary begins by describing Eric, who passed away at the age of 43 as being a rocking gentleman from Omaha. It further explains that Eric was preceded in death by billions of other people and his departure was just in time for him to make his spiritual presence at Red Sox spring game. The obituary also expressed that “if you knew Eric, you were loved.” Throughout his time here, he found a way into everybody’s heart.
Crystal Sauser’s stated that among Eric’s many admirers were his smoking hot wife, his brilliant kids and his family. He also loved the Kansas City Chiefs, a team which the obituary adds he became a fan. Crystal also punches fun at even more of her late husband’s hobbies which she says included fishing, hiking, and any old Chevy he saw on the road.
The obituary note continues that Eric hated depressed stories, beets, romantic comedies, a snow packed driveway and turning off the garage light. Eric was happy with nearly everything otherwise.
Crystal said she believes her late hubby would have certainly appreciated the mischievous obituary she penned in his honor.
She and her husband were married for 13 years and had three children together. Eric was detected with leukaemia sometime in April 2019. Eric responded that it is okay and they are going to just deal with this. Eric goes through treatment but almost a year later his cancer returned and then he unfortunately passed away from the disease.
Crystal further explained that she is sad because she has a ruined heart but she is not sad because they did not win in their journey together. Eric never wanted shame and she has upheld that while writing the obituary.
Crystal shared that their 11-year-old daughter, Amelia read the obituary at her father’s celebration of life that also comprised of a dance party.
