Would-be robber picks wrong home, armed residents dish out justice

According to cops, a group of Indiana apartment dwellers beat up a would-be thief and held him in prison with their own weapons until officials arrived to arrest him.

Marrell Tyler, 18, suffered several face bruises after he broke into the Annex of Kokomo apartments on Thursday at 3:25 a.m., according to Kokomo police.

Tyler was beaten and held at gunpoint when police came, owing to the acts of three guys who had been inside the first flat he had visited.

Tyler, the guys said, had approached the flat wearing a ski mask and pointed a gun at them. They jumped him, knocking the rifle from his hands and pinning him down.

Tyler drew a second gun, which fired but did not damage anyone. One of the men drew his own revolver and used it to restrain Tyler until cops came.

Tyler and the residents were both injured on their faces, but only Tyler required emergency medical assistance. He was taken to the hospital by police before being sent to the Howard County Criminal Justice Center for detention.

Tyler was detained on a burglary charge, a category 2 felony.

The cops are still investigating the incident, and anybody with information is asked to call the Kokomo Police Department Hotline at 765-456-7017.
