When a youngster leaves the house to see a buddy or play outside, their parents anticipate that they will come home shortly. Despite knowing how precarious life is, the parents never consider the possibility of losing their children.
When her boys left the house, the mom in today’s story felt similarly. She thought they’d come back soon, however destiny had other plans. Her children never returned.
Kayden Compton, 13, and his younger brother, Braydon Kauffman, 10, were the joys of their mom, Ashley Kauffman. The Ohio family had many highs and lows, but they constantly encouraged one another.
Ashley has been struggling with her health for several years due to cancer. She had chemotherapy while her kids supported her. She had no idea that an unforeseen event would shortly impact her life forever.
Braydon, a fifth-grader at McGregor Elementary School, and Compton, an eighth-grader at STEAMM Academy in Canton, Ohio, were getting ready to celebrate Compton’s birthday when the unimaginable occurred.
Ashley believed the boys would return soon after they left the house on October 1, 2022. She was an “overprotective mother” who never let her kids ride bikes like the other youngsters.
Ashley was concerned that her kids would be injured if they were left outside unsupervised. Her biggest dread came true about 9:22 p.m. when her kids were involved in a horrific accident. When the officials received a call, they hurried to the location to save the boys.
After the driver lost control of the Ford F-550, it rolled over and struck a tree, killing Compton and Braydon. When first responders reached the crash scene, they realized the youngsters had died.
They did, though, transport the wounded driver to the hospital as police investigated what caused the vehicle to collide with a tree.
Ashley was heartbroken when she discovered what had occurred to her kids. She stated, that night, a piece of her had perished.
Residents in the vicinity of the crash scene noticed a power failure at the time of the crash. After witnessing the truck flip, several raced to the site to assist, but they were unable to do so since the kids and driver were trapped beneath the broken vehicle.
The first responders came with the jaws of life, recalled a neighbor. The horrific tragedy shattered the boys’ families, friends, and community members. Lissa Morgan, a boy’s buddy, stated she misses him terribly, and it’s true that you never realize how much you miss someone until they’re gone. It’s quite difficult for her.
Ashley’s cousin, Chris Kauffman-Gilger, established a GoFundMe campaign to assist her with funeral expenses. The bereaved mother was forced to plan for two funerals at the same time. Chris stated these two guys were the happiest, nicest, most caring, and affectionate youngsters one could ever meet.
The family hoped to earn $17,000 through the campaign. More than $16,000 had been raised as of October 6. However, Ashley expressed her grief by posting images of her babies on Facebook and writing heartfelt remarks.

The police examined the incident in the hopes of determining what caused the motorist to lose control. Ashley monitored the inquiry in the hopes that her children would receive the justice they deserved.
The mother disclosed in one of her Facebook postings that a witness contacted authorities and stated that the Ford truck driver was allegedly driving under the influence. According to Ashley, thank you to the witness who felt enough grief and sadness for her helpless children to speak the truth.
The school system volunteered to consult teachers and kids who had been touched by the terrible situation. According to Canton City Schools, they send their profound condolences to these children’ families and friends, as well as their McGregor and STEAMM Academy communities.
However, Ashley kept her late sons’ memory alive by posting images of them on Facebook. She longed for them but remained strong for her other kids. The mom had never envisaged burying her children so young.
This terrible story emphasizes the importance of driving safely. We send our sympathies to Ashley and her family and pray that justice is served.
