In order to save money, Netflix has canceled the development of Pearl, an animated series produced by Meghan Markle. The program, which was announced last year, is one of numerous projects that have been axed by the streaming behemoth.
Netflix disclosed a significant drop in members last month and cautioned that millions more are on the verge of leaving the service. This reduced the company’s market worth by more than $50 billion, and analysts cautioned that it would be difficult to get back on track.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s firm, Archewell Productions, revealed last year that Meghan will be an executive producer on Pearl. The series was supposed to follow the exploits of a 12-year-old girl who is inspired by historical figures.Netflix did, nonetheless, announce that it will proceed to collaborate with Archewell Productions on a variety of projects, including a documentary series called Heart of Invictus. The series will center on competitors competing in the Invictus Games for injured veterans, which will be held in The Hague in 2022 and was organized by Prince Harry.
Netflix also announced the cancellation of two animated children’s programs, Dino Daycare and Boons and Curses. Netflix said in April that its overall number of members had fallen by 200,000 in the initial three months of this year, falling far short of its objective.
