Johnny Depp is making a comeback to the big screen.
In the midst of the highly publicized current trial between Depp and his ex-wife Amber Heard, it has been reported that the actor will make his acting debut for the first time since charges of abuse were leveled against him in 2016.
In case you have missed it, both Johnny Depp and Amber Heard were effectively banned from Hollywood following claims of domestic abuse between them.
Depp hasn’t worked on any projects since 2020, after the claims were revealed in 2016, which halted all of his efforts at the moment.
Since then, multiple petitions have been launched to boycott Heard, including one with over 3 million signatures to have her taken out from Aquaman 2.
Depp stated during his April 19 witness statement that the previous six years have been stressful. He stated of his profession that it’s been a hard six years. It’s funny when one day you’re Cinderella, and then 0.6 seconds later you’re Quasimodo. Despite their highly publicized current trial, word of Depp’s comeback to the big screen has emerged, and fans are overjoyed.
In the upcoming film directed by French helmer Maiwenn, Depp will play Louis XV, the French king.
According to Variety, the film will start filming in France this summer, covering Parisian locations such as the Versailles Palace. The filming will span three months.
