Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith are one of Hollywood’s most adored and “ideal” power couples. But, like any other relationship, they’ve had their share of difficulties behind closed doors.
Will was recently featured in Jada’s Red Table Talk Facebook Watch series. In a rare face-to-face meeting, the couple revealed some shocking details about their 20-year marriage.
Their love story is quite extraordinary. Will claims he first saw Jada on A Different World in the late 1980s. For him, it was love at first sight, and he realized he had to see her in reality. So he went to a programme filming in the hopes of making a connection. He did, though, meet and fell in love with another lady there, Sheree Zampino, who later became his first wife.
Will and Jada continued running into one other throughout the years, and their connection was apparent. They hadn’t done anything since Will was married. Will claims to have had an emotional meltdown one day.
Will recounts that the next night, Sheree and he went to dinner, and he sat down with Sheree, and it was one of the strangest feelings he had ever had. They were at The Palm, and he recalled having to get up from supper because he realised he wasn’t with the individual he was meant to be with. He walked into The Palm’s restroom and burst out crying. He was sitting in a restaurant cubicle, crying hysterically and then laughing, as if to ask himself, ‘What the hell is wrong with him?’ And he realised she was the lady he was meant to be with.
Sheree eventually filed for divorce, following which Will contacted Jada. Jada got pregnant with their son, Jaden, shortly after they began dating.
However, the actor, now 50, went on to recount the moment when he and Jada split up – a time when Will believes he was “failing badly” as her husband.
More of this real, genuine, and frank talk can be seen in the video below.
