The world’s oldest wedded pair, a 110-year-old man from Ecuador and his 104-year-old wife, have died.
Julio Mora died in his sleep next to his wife of more than 79 years, Waldramina Quinteros, in their Quito residence.
Guinness World Records recognised the delighted pair as the world’s oldest pair in August of this year. They dated for seven years before marrying on February 7, 1941, despite their families’ desires.
The couple explained to Guinness World Records that it wasn’t easy since their ancestors didn’t get along, but with time and care, they were able to bring them together, and they became an inspiration and the best example for the future generations.
The couple married with only their godparents and closest friends present, but this did not prevent them from living a long and happy life blessed with 5 kids.
They said in a statement that for them it is a wonderful pleasure and pride to obtain a Guinness World Records title as it is the greatest honour that the world acknowledges.
It is true that it is tough at this moment as they are swamped by a pandemic that impacts the entire world and they still do not have a cure. Nevertheless, the first step for them is to obey the norms and enjoy life.
Julio and Waldramina had four surviving kids, 11 grandkids, 21 great-grandchildren, and nine great-great-grandchildren. They also had another son, who died when he was 58 years old.
Waldramina stated they had never quarrelled or fought, simply differed on “trivial matters.”
