During a C-section, a pregnant lady was reportedly raped by her anaesthetist.
Giovanni Quintella Bezerra, 32, was arrested on accusation of rape after surreptitiously filming himself inserting his penis in the woman’s mouth after extensively seducing her at the Hospital da Mulher in So Joo de Meriti, Rio de Janeiro.
Mr Bezerra merely finished his medical training in anaesthetic two months ago.
Hospital workers were allegedly concerned about the amount of medications he was administering to his patients and installed a hidden camera to monitor his activities.
They were shocked to witness him sexually abusing the woman while other surgeons performed a C-section on her less than a metre away behind a surgical curtain.
He allegedly abused her for about 10 minutes.
Clovis Bersot Munhoz, president of Cremerj Clovis Bersot Munhoz remarked that the purported assault, was ‘absurd.’
They notify that an internal inquiry will be initiated to take administrative actions, said the Health Foundation of the State of Rio de Janeiro and the Secretary of State for Health.
The Hospital da Mulher team is fully assisting the victim and her family. This conduct is a crime that must be punished in line with the applicable legislation.
Police are looking into if the anaesthetist has any other victims and have complimented hospital personnel for spotting his unusual behaviour.
