The mom was reportedly raped in front of her daughter by a 14-year-old boy who then stabbed her after breaking into her home.
The Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office said in a statement that on April 19 at 3:15 p.m., the 14-year-old suspect and a suspect accomplice reportedly broke into the woman’s home in the Long Island community of Mastic Beach after they observed a resident leave. They found a locked door as soon as they got inside the house and kicked it open. The 23-year-old lady and her 4-year-old kid were discovered there.
According to the District Attorney’s Office, the accomplice reportedly “moved around the bedroom seeking for stuff to take” as the 14-year-old instructed the woman to unlock her smartphone. The mother was reportedly suffocated while the boy allegedly sexually abused her while her daughter was nearby. In the corridor, the claimed attack continued.
According to reports, the 14-year-old defendant “tried to pull her 4-year-old daughter out of the bedroom” while dragging the mother back into the room. After the mom apparently attempted to stop him, he reportedly took the victim to another room while leaving the child alone.
The accused “took out a switchblade, presented it to her, and cut her across the head and forehead,” the statement claims.
Then, according to reports, he stabbed her in the upper-left corner of her chest.
The stabbing was followed by both suspects leaving the house on foot. The victim’s head, face, and chest all needed stitches and staples.
The adolescent was charged with additional offenses after providing a DNA sample and acknowledging his involvement in the crime. The teen is accused of first-degree rape, first-degree criminal sexual act, two counts of first-degree assault, two counts of first-degree burglary, one count of first-degree sexual abuse, one count of second-degree strangulation, and endangering the welfare of a child, according to the District Attorney’s Office.
In Suffolk County Youth Court, he was charged and is currently being detained without bond. According to reports, the teen’s accomplice is still at large.
The two individuals alleged to have been responsible for the robbery and rape are shown on camera footage obtained by the Suffolk County Police Department.
