For many American students, the summer holiday already seems endless, yet because of the lockdown, the majority of children have been off of school since March.
However, one nine-year-old is making the most of his leisure time by giving his neighbors and friends’ lawns a free cut.
Jesse Ward from Warner Robins, Georgia, offers the veterans, elderly, crippled, and single moms in his neighborhood his free lawn-mowing services.
The diligent 9-year-old was inspired to take action after signing up for Rodney Smith’s (of Alabama) countrywide 50-yard challenge.
Smith founded Raising Men Lawn Care Service, and since then, he has motivated more than 700 children, ages 7 to 17, from all 50 states to accept the community beautification challenge and mow 50 yards in their neighborhood.
The group gave Jesse a t-shirt, earplugs, and safety glasses to get him started, and he intends to finish the challenge by the end of October.
He said that some individuals must pay someone to trim their lawn since they are unable to do it themselves, he is doing this for free.
His mother Jennifer has created a Facebook page to connect with neighbors who require Jesse’s assistance in maintaining their yards.
He finds it enjoyable. It makes her feel good that he’s pleased, Jennifer said, just because he feels good about himself doing it, like paying it forward for someone.
This is the finest my yard has ever looked, one customer commented. The second individual then remarked, “My yard looks pretty wonderful, thank you,” Regarding the reception to his work thus far, Jesse commented.
Let’s hope more children join this fantastic project since this 9-year-old boy is such an inspiration.
