A body was discovered on Monday during the inquiry into the abduction of missing runner Eliza Fletcher. Officials have now disclosed that the corpse is that of a 34-year-old mother and teacher.
Memphis cops detained and charged a guy in connection with the abduction over the weekend. Cleotha Abston, 38, was accused in the case with abduction and evidence tampering.
Officials said they have DNA evidence tying Abston to the abduction site. Witnesses reportedly reported seeing him cleaning his car and washing his clothes following the kidnapping.
Obviously, this heartbreaking news is not what Fletcher’s family was expecting. Following the discovery of her remains, authorities claimed Abston was charged with further offences. These are charges of first-degree murder and first-degree murder in the commission of an abduction.
The accused’s bond has been set at $510,000 by a court. He was appointed as a public defender.
The reason for the death has yet to be determined.
