Prince Harry and Meghan Markle didn’t appear to expect their visit to the UK to go so long, but Queen Elizabeth’s death has altered everything. And now it appears that Harry and Meghan will travel with their children, Archie and Lilibet, to the UK to accompany them before the Queen’s funeral next week.
Meghan and Harry were in the middle of a scheduled journey to the United Kingdom to attend a variety of engagements when Queen Elizabeth died on September 8. Archie and Lili remained in California with Meghan’s mother, Doria Ragland, since they didn’t expect their trip to be long.
It now appears that Meghan and Harry want to remain in Europe until the royal period of mourning ends, which would be seven days after the burial on September 19.
Doria must be struggling to decide whether or not to fly abroad with the kids – after all, they’re both under the age of four. It’s unclear if they’d attend the funeral or not; they’re both still young enough that it might not be feasible.
Though Harry flew out to Balmoral to be with his grandmother in her last moments, no one, except King Charles and Princess Anne, arrived in time.
But then, over the weekend, Harry, William, Meghan, and Kate made a surprise united appearance to welcome people paying their condolences at Windsor Castle.

On Monday, Harry issued a statement about the Queen’s passing. He wrote, while this final parting brings them deep sorrow, Granny, he will be eternally grateful for all their first meetings — from his earliest childhood memories with her, to meeting her for the first time as his Commander-in-Chief, to the first time she met his darling wife and hugged her beloved great-grandchildren.
Even if Harry and Meghan decide to send Archie and Lili over the pond, we won’t be shocked if the public doesn’t see much of the kids — if at all.
