Jake Flint, 37, a country singer, died in his sleep mere HOURS after his wedding.

Oklahoma singer-songwriter Jake Flint died in his sleep hours after his wedding, leaving his new wife heartbroken. On Saturday night, the 37-year-old musician died. The exact cause of death has yet to be confirmed.

On Saturday night, Flint and Brenda exchanged wedding vows in a secluded farmstead between Claremore and Owasso, near Tulsa.

However, the groom sadly died in his sleep hours later.

The shock and sadness in the Oklahoma music community were palpable Monday as word of his unexpected passing spread.

Flint’s longtime publicist, Clif Doyal, confirmed the singer’s death.

Brenda Cline, Flint’s manager, revealed his death on social media.

Even though it poured on their wedding day, the couple’s spirits were not dampened as they said their “I do’s” in front of all their friends and family.

Flint was a Red Dirt singer/songwriter from Mounds, Oklahoma.

Flint was born in 1985 in the oilfield boom town of Holdenville, Oklahoma, the son of a wildcat oilman and a hardworking mom of two.

According to his description, he was raised in Tulsa, Oklahoma, where he describes himself as the “outcast rural boy in the city.”

Jake’s dad grew up listening to John Denver, James Taylor, and Dire Straits, as well as Texas singer/songwriters Guy Clark, Townes Van Zandt, Steve Earle, John Prine, and others.

Because of his difficulties fitting in as a city child, Jake joined his older sister’s gang and was exposed to Nirvana, Pearl Jam, and the Foo Fighters.

He also heard Dave Matthews Band, John Mayer, Guster, David Grey, and whatever else was playing in his sister’s room.

Jake’s initial exposure to music came as a result of his father’s diagnosis with A.L.S., or Lou Gherig’s Disease, which prevented him from physically interacting with his kid.

Worried about Jake’s inability to engage in sports, his dad hired two of his lifetime closest friends to teach him to play guitar and take him to area bluegrass festivals. Jake developed an interest in bluegrass music, which led to an interest in jam bands such as Phish, String Cheese Incident, and Bela Fleck & The Flecktones. Jake was motivated to compose his own music during this time, according to his profile.

Jake’s second musical phase included discovering composers from the Texas and Oklahoma music scenes, both past and present, such as Tom Skinner, Bob Childers, Boland, Canada, McClure, and Chris Knight, among many others. Jake discovered himself, his creative inspiration, and established his own singer/songwriter career here.

Jake just composed and recorded his debut song, produced by Mike McClure, at the Boohatch Studio in Ada, Oklahoma, according to his website. As Jake planned, the LP has musical stylings akin to the Great Divide and Cross Canadian Ragweed. They played all of the instruments on the record with the aid of Mike McClure and his bandmate Taylor Reed, as well as Jon Knudson from Whiskey Myers and Jake’s good buddy Cody Woody.

Jake says that he witnessed many of life’s highs and lows at a young age, including the death of his dad. According to the website, he has floated through life loving, hating, gaining, losing, experimenting, testifying, missioning, sinning, violating the law, and paying the penalty while freely and truthfully blogging about it all.

Jake performs solo acoustic and with his band at locations in Oklahoma, Texas, and neighboring states. His new song “What’s Your Name” and his sophomore “Self-Titled” Studio Album will be released on February 15, 2020 to Texas and Oklahoma radio and all digital media outlets.
