K9 canines are a vital element of the police service and do an excellent job protecting individuals and maintaining their communities safe, putting their lives on the line in the same way that their human counterparts do.
These canines become cherished members of any police force, yet their most vital link is with their handlers. They are not only companions on the job, protecting each other in the line of duty, but they are also buddies off the work: most handlers maintain their dogs as pets.
That was the situation for Central Falls Police Officer Decristoforo and his K9 companion Axel. Unfortunately, the police dog died recently… A tragic snapshot illustrates how much the officer’s loss meant to him.
Axel passed away this month, just a few years after resigning from the police department. He was living with his ex-girlfriend, who had adopted him.
Friends of Central Fall Animals, a local charitable animal group, paid homage to the dog, hailing him as a great cop.
Axel was all business on the streets, according to the post. He did a fantastic job of making the streets safe, and he always tried to ensure the cops were protected, no matter how difficult the scenario was.
The piece also discusses Axel’s friendship with Officer Decristoforo.
He would not have been reluctant to devote his life to save the life of a fellow cop, particularly his partner, according to the post. These two were immediately great buddies who would always have each other’s back.
“I can’t find the right words to describe the love that Officer Decristoforo had for Axel, but I do know he’s feeling broken right now because of the loss of his other half,” Friends of Central Falls Animals said.
Today we mourn a true hero! 🐶🚔🇺🇸 I was asked to write about the passing of k9 Axel. I don’t even know where to start….

It’s evident that the two policemen adored one other, and their relationship is unbreakable.
The relationship between a Police K9 and his partner can never be severed, not even in death, according to the post. K9 Axel may no longer be physically there by Officer Decristoforo’s side, but he will always be watching over him, and in his own way ensuring that he concludes his shift safely, just like he did while they were out there together protecting the streets safely!
Axel, rest in peace. We know your partner and all the policemen you worked with will remember you fondly. Your shift has ended.
