When Al Roker answered his door on Monday, he was surprised by a huge group of carolers, many of whom were members of his TODAY family.
The touching incident occurred only hours after the beloved weatherman made his first televised appearance through Zoom since being hospitalized in mid-November for blood clots in his legs and lungs.
The lovely serenade was broadcast on TODAY on Wednesday morning.
Fans quickly became aware of the 68-year-absence old’s from the morning program.
Roker explained his disappearance on Instagram on November 18th, saying he had been hospitalized with a blood clot in his leg that sent some clots into his lungs.
After some medical whack-a-mole, he is very grateful to be receiving excellent medical treatment and on his path to recovery.
His absence was particularly felt during the annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. It was his first parade absence in 27 years.
Roker, on the other hand, had a great day since he was discharged from the hospital just in time to watch the parade and have Thanksgiving dinner.
Sadly, his stay at home was brief. Roker returned to the hospital after the holiday, where he had been for many weeks.
Because of his second hospitalization, he was unable to present the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree Lighting.
He had only lately come home.
He stated in a video appearance on TODAY on Monday that it’s been a tough road and he is not going to dispute that. It’s been the most difficult one yet, and he’s had his fair number of operations. It makes him feel very grateful for the outpouring of prayers and appreciation. He considers himself really lucky.
Roker acknowledged his sickly appearance and why he did not want to return to his weatherman responsibilities just yet.
Regardless of his health difficulties, he stated, he feels good and feels strong, and feels a little bit better each day.
While fans throughout the country have sent prayers and good wishes, his TODAY family surprised him at home with their own performance of “Jingle Bells” and a unique version of “I’ll Be Home for Christmas.”

Hoda Kotb, Savannah Guthrie, Dylan Dreyer – who has been standing in for Roker – Sheinelle Jones, Craig Melvin, Jenna Bush Hager, and many TODAY personnel charmed an emotional Al Roker in front of his New York City home.
She believed that was one of the most uplifting moments for all of them, Guthrie said of the incident. Everybody was in tears, and it was absolutely lovely and so amazing to see him.
Roker thanked everyone for their help over the last few weeks.
Al, we miss you! We’re all pulling for you and can’t wait to see you on television again.
