Such was the situation for a New York audience when Pink revealed she had recruited a special guest to sing a duet with her onstage. She soon disclosed that the mysterious man was a Vietnam veteran, and the two would be performing the ideal song.
But this guy was much more to Pink than a military member; he was her father, and he had composed the song they were about to sing. Pink addressed the crowd by saying that her father was her first rock star. She is who she is as a result of him. She said that her father composed “I Have Seen The Rain” while in Vietnam, and that the song was a soldier’s cry.
The first time her dad’s ever performed in front of a group is going to be right now, Pink remarked affectionately as her dad, Jim Moore, approached the stage for the first time ever alongside his daughter to play his song in front of a group.
The unexpected announcement, naturally, made the audience go crazy, who recognized they were seeing history being made. The enthralling duet, which featured a proud Jim and an emotional Pink, has captivated viewers ever since—and it’s easy to see why.
Jim Moore, as a soldier abroad decades before, could never have dreamed that the song he was creating would one day be included as a secret track on one of his daughter’s CDs. He’s battled monsters in her closet, monsters posing as administrators in school buildings—one name it, she wrote in a love homage to her father. Pink recalled a terrible night when she found herself sobbing alone in a hotel room. She called her father, who arrived immediately. He hopped on a train, no questions asked, and was in her room three hours later, she said, remembering how she could always rely on her dad when things went bad. She thanks her stars for this guy, that he was strong enough not just to face his own demons but hers too, and now her kids.
