Can we please take a moment to admire Nicole Kidman’s Met Gala 2023 ensemble?
The actress appeared on the carpeted stairs of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, alongside her hubby Keith Urban, wearing a magnificent blush pink ball gown, which she also wore in a 2004 Chanel No. 5 commercial. The gown had silver sequins, a high-leg split in the centre, a sweeping train sprinkled with boa feathers, and a delicate one-shoulder tulle cape.
Urban was caught adoring his wife on the stairs while dressed in a traditional black tux and a white dress shirt. The duo wasn’t scared to show off their PDA, holding hands and sharing a short kiss as they mounted the steps.
Tonight’s theme, “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty,” honors the late Chanel design director’s life and legacy.
The Costume Institute presents the spring 2023 show as an examination of “Karl Lagerfeld’s work.” The display will highlight the German-born designer’s distinctive working approach by emphasizing his style language as represented in aesthetic motifs that emerge again and again in his clothes from the 1950s to his last collection in 2019.
The exhibition will also include about 150 of Lagerfeld’s designs, as well as some of his drawings, which underscore his complex creative process and collaborative relationships with his premières, or head seamstresses. Lagerfeld’s flowing lines linked his designs for Balmain, Patou, Chloé, Fendi, Chanel, and his personal label, Karl Lagerfeld, resulting in a broad and productive body of work unrivaled in fashion history.
