According to authorities, a Michigan child used a catapault to prevent his sister’s abduction.
Officials claimed this week that a Michigan child escaped an attempted abduction when her brother used a slingshot to hit the would-be assailant.
The suspected attacker was apprehended by Michigan State Police near Alpena on Wednesday.
The 17-year-old’s identity has not been disclosed, but he has been charged as an adult with attempted kidnapping/child seduction, attempted assault to cause serious bodily injury less than murder, and assault and battery.
According to a press release from Michigan State Police, the 8-year-old girl was in her backyard when the suspected attacker emerged from the woods, seized her, and covered her mouth. Officials claimed the girl’s 13-year-old brother used a catapault to beat the suspected attacker in the head and chest.
The 17-year-old was subsequently detained based on another family member’s description of the suspect. Officials further said that the youngster had apparent slingshot wounds.
