Jamie is a 13-year-old cat in Australia. And when Jamie’s owner had to move into a nursing home and had to give her cat to a shelter group, Jamie just couldn’t understand what was going on.
The shelter cared for Jamie’s medical issues and pulled his bad teeth. But workers there did not know how they were going to be able to adopt out a 13-year-old cat.
Then Sarah Dempsey stopped by the shelter. She hadn’t planned on adopting an older cat, but Jamie pretty much melted her heart. So she took him home with her.
And it wasn’t long before Jamie felt right at home and started loving on his new owner. It even got to the point where he didn’t want to leave her side.
One day, Sarah held onto Jamie’s paw as he drifted off to sleep. When Sarah removed her hand, Jamie quickly awoke and pawed at Sarah until she put her hand back on his paw. Then he drifted off to sleep again.
This is now an everyday thing in Sarah’s home. She holds hands with Jamie while he sleeps. And Jamie is comforted in knowing that someone he loves is always there with him.
