It has been learned that an elder abuse inquiry into John Amos’s well-being is underway.
The 83-year-old Good Times alum has been hospitalized in Memphis, Tennessee, since May, and statements from his daughter have prompted a Colorado Bureau of Investigation.
For many years, Mr. Amos has been a beloved member of our community. He has also been a staunch supporter of their community and their sheriff’s office, according to a press statement shared by the organization
They take criminal allegations extremely seriously. They can confirm that an allegation was made to the Custer County Sheriff’s Office that Mr. Amos may have been the victim of a crime, the announcement stated. They are looking into that allegation carefully and have consulted with their partners at the Colorado Bureau of Investigation and the Department of Human Services. They’ve also spoken with Mr. Amos and his lawyer.
Concerns about the legendary actor’s health and safety arose when his daughter, Shannon Amos, published an emotional Instagram post about him.
On May 14th, she would receive a worrisome call from her dad, sharing that he was hospitalized in Memphis, Tennessee, in immense pain. In spite of being out of the country, she arranged for assistance in reaching him. His life was hanging by a thread in the intensive care unit.
The last two weeks devastated the world, Shannon said. Her father, who was the victim of elder abuse and financial exploitation, is working with the Colorado Bureau of Investigations and local authorities to apprehend the criminals. Legal aid is critical to securing their conviction and the future of his father. His house has been stripped bare, necessitating a safe haven for his return.
Shannon’s charges of elder abuse are being pursued against an unidentified caregiver. But John said that the allegations are false, that he is not being mistreated, and that he is uncertain why Shannon organized the campaign.
Aside from Good Times, John is most renowned for his work in Roots, Coming to America, Lock Up, and other films. He has continued to perform well into his 80s, with his most recent features being 2022’s Me Time and Block Party.
