The iconic Oscar slap was addressed on HBO’s “Real Time With Bill Maher” Friday night, with the namesake host remarking that Jada Pinkett Smith ought “thank God” that alopecia is the most obviously awful she’s managing.
“If you are so fortunate in life to have it as your medical problem, simply express gratitude toward God.” Maher made a joke with his guests, attorney Laura Coates and former presidential candidate and New York City mayoral candidate Andrew Yang.
“It’s not a life-threatening situation. It’s part of aging for most people, 80 percent of males and 50 percent of women. Aging is, believe me, I know, the degeneration of the flesh. It happens to all of us,” remarked the 66-year-old political comic.
He further continued that if that bothers her so much, then put on a wig like everyone else at the Oscars.
Will Smith’s viral smackdown of Chris Rock over a joke about Pinkett Smith’s bald head exposed ugly “aspects of society,” such as “harmful manliness, victim culture, and liberal hypocrisy,” according to Maher, who claims that most Americans partner the Academy Awards with the Democratic Party and coastal elites.
The attendees at the left-wing comedian’s show were all upset that a theatre full of “woke” celebrities would stand and cheer Smith’s best actor award seconds after his assault.
“As a prosecutor, I recall prosecuting quite a few attack and battery cases, and they didn’t stand by and say, ‘oh no, I’ve got the remainder of my child’s soccer game, I have to stay for this,'” Coates said.
“So the idea that he was there to say, ‘here’s my prize,’ let alone a standing ovation, was stunning.”
Yang speculated that Smith’s skin would have been thicker.
“I feel that it’s part of the job of a globally famous star attending an award event to take light insults hurled at you and your family,” the businessman-turned-Democrat explained.
“When I campaigned for office, individuals said things to me that I didn’t like, but I didn’t stand up and smack anybody.”
