Boy Who Was Non Verbal Since Birth Starts Speaking After The Dentist Visit.

6-year-old Mason Motz has been in speech therapy since he was just over a year old. He was born with a genetic defect – Sotos syndrome – long believed to have an impact on his speech. The condition causes distinctive facial features, learning disabilities and delayed mental development.

But when the family took Mason to a dentist at Kidstown Dental in Katy, Texas, they learned that the young boy was NOT nonverbal through a mental issue. He actually could not talk because he was literally tongue-tied, a real condition where the tongue, at birth, tethers the bottom of the tongue’s tip to the bottom of the mouth.

Incredibly, during all those years, no one had bothered to check inside his mouth for a hindrance to his speech. A short time later, that dentist, Dr. Amy Luedemann-Lazar, performed laser surgery on Mason. And within 12 hours of that surgery, the young guy was talking.

Says his amazed mom Meredith: ‘It’s like night and day. He doesn’t have choking episodes anymore; he’s eating different types of food. ‘He’s behaving much better at school. ‘His behavior was a problem, because he was getting poor quality of sleep at night, he was constantly tired and was not able to express himself. ‘He doesn’t snore anymore. He doesn’t have sleep apnea anymore.’

Mason still continues with his speech therapy, and he’s making remarkable progress.
