Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles commenced their romantic association during 1970s. Their affair was revealed by Andrew Morton in 1992 in his book, “Diana: Her True Story”.
Sometime later, a top newspaper issued a record of Prince Charles and Camilla’s phone talk clandestinely recorded between them. The “Camillagate” tape scandal was out in 1993, a year after Morton’s book. Subsequent to the release, the tapes were called the “tampon-gate,” as the Prince of Wales said that he wanted to be Camilla’s tampon in their chat.
During an interview in 1994, Prince Charles mentioned to Camilla as a friend of his. He said that Camilla is a great friend of his. He further said that she is a friend for a very long time and she will remain to be a friend for a very long period. Prince Charles also acknowledged that he and Camilla renewed their love after his nuptial to Princess Diana had permanently broken in 1986.
In the meantime, Camilla’s son, Tom Parker Bowles, spoke openly on the extremely exposed affair during an interview in 2014. He acknowledged he was furious by the duplicitous scandal’s particulars dotted all over the mass media.
Soon after the tapes were out in the media, Prime Minister John Major established that Prince Charles and Princess Diana’s matrimonial was over and declared their official split. The regal pair separated in 1996 and Prince Charles wedded Camilla in 2005.
Even after Prince Charles and Camilla moved on, media continue ferociously attacking her all over the years. During an interview with British Vogue, Her Royal Highness spoke openly on the level of scrutiny she received over the period.
She stated that it is not at all easy. She further said that she was scrutinized for such a long time that she just has to find a way to live with it and one has to carry on with life.
In the interim, Prince Charles is said to be intensely uncomfortable by how the whole thing spread-out years ago while having an extramarital relation. Howard Hodgson, an associate of Prince Charles, described in his memoir of the royal that the exposed telephone talk between him and Camilla still remain on his mind at the moment.
Hodgson stated that Prince of Wales was conscious that individuals were not understanding to him and the kingdom would go over his past at the time of his coronation and long even after.
These days, the royal duo living a super busy life as elder members of the Royal Family. Camilla acknowledged that it is certainly difficult to spend extra time together but they make sure to connect at least once in day.
Prince Charles is the foremost in line to the British throne. When Camilla asked if she felt overwhelmed for Prince Charles, who is fronting the unavoidability of becoming, she said that she does not think so. She said that his destiny will come and he’s constantly recognized that it’s going to happen one day.
When Prince Charles ascends to the throne, Camilla’s title will change. Presently recognized as the Duchess of Cornwall, Camilla has not been mentioned to as Princess of Wales out of reverence for Prince Charles’s late wife, Princess Diana, who held the designation.
It is said that once the Prince of Wales becomes King, Camilla would be mentioned to as Princess Consort rather than Queen Consort.
Robert Lacey, a historian, said that Prince Charles’ sons, Prince William and Prince Harry, were furious at the thought of him pushing to have Camilla be offered full Queen rank. Lacy said that the royal brothers were united in conflicting their father’s stance since they sought to reserve their mother’s inheritance.
Though, the twosome lost the combat when their grandma declared her support for Camilla to be Queen Consort once Prince Charles descends to the throne.
