Precinct 4 Officers responded to an efficiency motel and found the apartment in deplorable conditions, including open drug use, needles left on the floor, and trash throughout the apartment. There were five children in the apartment being deprived of basic needs. During the investigation, Officer Zander found a small baby on the floor crying and clearly upset. Officer Zander picked up the child and they bonded immediately.
He held the child until members of the Cobb County Division of Family and Children’s Service arrived to place all of the children into protective custody. Two adults in the home were arrested. These kinds of dispatches have a lasting effect on the officers involved.
