The world is a genuinely frightening place.
One just never knows when a demon is hidden in plain sight, or what heinous things individuals are capable of. Mitch Ross, an Ohio State Patrolman, understands better than most that not everyone you see is an honest, law-abiding individual.
While stopping speeding cars and doing his utmost to keep the roadways safe may be fully within his remit, saving victims of human trafficking is probably not something he anticipated to undertake.
When Mitch Ross pulled over a car on I-80 west in Lucas County, Ohio, he figured it was routine. He was about to give the male motorist a “failure to move” penalty when he saw he wasn’t alone.
He was accompanied by a little girl, and none of them had identification or spoke English.
Ross started to suspect that something was not quite right. He requested the assistance of an OSHP translator, and it was later shown that Mitch had been wise to trust his instincts.
The girl, who was 15 years old, had gone missing in New Jersey. The 35-year-old driver was bringing her to Chicago.
The girl revealed to investigators that the male had “forced her to perform actions” on him when they were alone. She is currently receiving medical attention, while her captor is being held in the Lucas County prison on kidnapping charges.
This little girl’s future would have been considerably bleaker if it hadn’t been for Mitch Ross’ fast thinking and intuition.
