Cops have one of the most physically and emotionally demanding occupations in the world. As a result, individuals frequently leave their residence not anticipating what to expect on a regular basis.
So, when Interim Chief of Police David Snively picked up the phone to aid an officer in detaining a motorist, he had no idea he would depart the scene with his feelings heightened.
On June 28, 2022, the Morrow Police Department, lead by Snively, reacted to an investigation demand. When the cops came, they learned that the subject had been hostile during a routine traffic check.
When the driver failed to obey orders, the scenario, which should have ended in a straightforward settlement between the cops and the motorist, devolved into an altercation.
The cops had no option but to detain him, but they did so after discovering a little girl and her mom in the car with the accused, the child’s mother’s lover. Snively spotted the small child, whose mother’s boyfriend had just been detained, weeping while the mom spoke with the authorities.
Worried for the small child, the police chief knelt and comforted her. Snively also responded to her queries while attempting to clarify what was going on.
Unknown to the temporary police chief and the small girl in a flowery print outfit, a community member was photographing their interaction.

The police agency would subsequently post the image on social media. They captioned the image by saying how Snively attempted to console the youngster and explain the circumstance to her. They also described that interactions like this occur every day, at every level of their department, and they’re grateful that a member of the community decided to photograph and share it with them.
Snively later turned to social media, outlining what transpired between him and the little girl in a post on his LinkedIn profile. The entire event, he said, wrenched his heart out.
According to the temporary police head, the small girl approached him boldly while trying not to weep. She then asked if her mom’s lover, the accused, would ever return home following his incarceration. Snively was upset by the girl’s inquiry.
The head of cops promised the little girl that the accused was safe and would return home shortly. When she heard this, the small girl smiled before wrapping her arms around Snively and crying into his shoulder.
Snively, the police chief, said he was disturbed by the scenario but optimistic since the small girl felt comfortable with him. It was a horrible, lovely moment, he said.
He had no clue somebody had snapped their photo because it wasn’t given to him until hours later. Snively then stated that he has witnessed numerous things in his life that were beyond his comprehension.
The Interim Police Chief admitted that he had endured many setbacks and failures; but, one thing has stayed constant throughout: he understands his role on Earth.
Snidely, he thought God had purposefully placed him in the circumstances to accomplish his goal: to console and encourage the small girl. He was also convinced that the young girl had done more for him than he could have done for her.
This occurrence sparked several online replies and shed a positive light on the influence of cops on the community, particularly in recent times when they have been under fire for a number of sad situations.
Some commenters on Snively’s LinkedIn post complimented the temporary police chief for displaying compassion and soothing the little girl who had been left befuddled and upset by the experience.
Other cops responded on the page as well, including Nicholas Lewis, an Emory University Police Officer, who wrote:
“I enjoy seeing the compassion in our job.” When we encounter humans at their worst, it may be upsetting and depressing. Stories like this help us stay focused on why the work is important and will always be important. To safeguard the innocent.”
Nicholas Lewis also emphasised the importance of cops being examples of integrity regardless of the scenario to which they react before eventually praising Snively for sharing.
