Seth Welch and his wife Tatiana, both 27, are blamed for ignoring their daughter’s medical needs due to religious beliefs.
A Michigan couple has been charged with murder after their 10-month-old daughter was allegedly starved.
Seth Welch and his wife, Tatiana, were informed by a court that if they were convicted, they would face a life sentence without any chance of parole. They are blamed for starving their baby daughter Mary, who was discovered dead inside the Welch’s farm outside Grand Rapids.
When the judge announced the allegations, which include criminal homicide and child abuse, his mouth fell, and she cried hysterically during the hearing.
When paramedics arrived at their residence, the infant was very underweight, with sunken eyes and cheeks and no pulse, as indicated by authorities.
Hours after the fact, Seth Welch posted a message on Facebook saying: “Heart is totally broken. Woke up to Mary dead in her bed today … Simply numb at this moment.”
The cause of death, according to an autopsy, was starvation and dehydration caused by adult caregiver maltreatment.
According to reports, the parents noted the kid was “thin and underweight” a month prior but didn’t look for medical help because of their religious views and distrust of doctors and government.
Seth Welch’s Facebook page is full of anti-government ranting, Disney characters, and surprisingly the “Harry Potter” series.
