In Brazil, a two-foot-tall infant weighing 16lbs was delivered (7.3kg).
Cleidiane Santos dos Santos, 27, gave birth by C-section to son Angerson on Wednesday, January 18 at Hospital Padre Colombo in Parintins, Amazonas State.
Ms Santos was in the hospital for a regular checkup when doctors discovered the unborn baby was too large for her to carry to term.
At 59cm, Angerson is thought to be the largest baby born in Amazonas State. He is being kept in an incubator in a ‘stable’ state.
Both the mom and the kid are stated to be healthy.
The youngster breaks the state record, which was last updated in 2011 by a boy weighing 13 pounds and standing 1.8 feet tall.
Angerson falls just short of the national record set by Ademilton dos Santos, who was born in 2005 and weighed 17 pounds (8kg).
Ademilton was born through Caesarean section in Salvador, Brazil, as well.
Doctors believe his stature was caused by his mother’s diabetes.
Anna Bates, born in Italy in 1955, was the largest baby ever born naturally, weighing 22lbs 8oz (10.2kg) – almost the same as a fully grown Beagle.
Padre Colombo Hospital is soliciting funds for new clothes for Angerson since his parents’ purchases would not suit him.
For the infant, the hospital is searching for clothing and diapers that fit kids from nine months to a year.
