Dying truck driver uses final breaths to save school children after bus crash

Johnathon Grayer was severely hurt when his rented vehicle collided with the rear of a school bus.

Rather than seeking assistance for himself, he leapt out of his vehicle and spent the last minutes of his life assisting the kids on the bus.

The 25-year-old driver rammed his truck into the bus in Southeast Georgia as it was stopping to let kids off. There were about 10 kids aboard the bus when Johnathon got onboard and began assisting the children in getting to safety.

On August 12, 2020, damage to a school bus is shown following an accident in Bacon County, Georgia.

Georgia State Trooper Shane Copeland stated that footage from the bus surveillance camera showed Grayer raising seats to free kids stuck below.

He was rushed to the hospital after assisting the kids in reaching safety, where he died from his wounds.

Johnathon Grayer, according to the parents Veronica and Isaiah Grayer, was a person with a golden heart who “had this chuckle about himself.”

“They stated that for some reason or another, he basically took the whole seat out of the bus with the kid,” she said, “and she was like, ‘Wow.’

According to her, her son even attempted to relax the kids on the bus.

He informed a little kid that they were heading out for ice cream.  According to the parents, the child said, “Where is the man who pulled me off the bus?  Because we were scheduled to have ice cream,” she explained,

After everything occurred, he slumped and it was simply like God saying, ‘You did what I wanted you to do,’ said Johnathon’s father, Isaiah Grayer.

According to the Georgia State Patrol, there were more than a dozen pupils aboard the bus, and 12 of them were taken to hospitals with non-life threatening injuries. Johnathon Grayer died a hero, guaranteeing those kids safety before taking his final breath.

Our thoughts are with his family. Rest in peace, my friend. Please share this story.
