Florida Boy Dies in Car Crash on the Way Home after His Very First Day of School

Every parent wishes to see their child attend school. Most parents choose to drop off their kids at school rather than taking the school bus on the first day since they want to see them go through the school gates. It was a day they would never forget.

The mom in today’s article was looking forward to her son’s first day of school as well. She had no clue, though, that it would be his last day. They were in a car accident on the highway, which flipped the mom’s life upside down.

Lacey Fiedtkou, Azir Louis-mother, Jeune’s was overjoyed to send him to school for the first time a few days after celebrating his sixth birthday. She and her sister, Nakisha Louis-Jeune, had been looking forward to this day for a long time.

An awful tragedy occurred on August 17, 2022, which turned the family’s lives upside down. Lacey drove her car in the darkness of the night, while Azir sat in the backseat. Their Volkswagen Passat broke down on the Florida Turnpike.

Lacey came to a halt in the inside traffic lane to consider her options. In no time, she felt a strong movement that caused her car to spin many times before coming to a stop. Her automobile had been rear-ended by a Mercedes-Benz.

During the crash, a guy riding in Lacey’s passenger seat was also seriously hurt. Nevertheless, the driver of the Mercedes Benz exited the vehicle and left the scene, clutching a child.

The first responders came quickly and saved Lacey, the man she was with, and Azir. Sadly, they were unable to locate Azir’s heartbeat and declared him dead on the scene, while Lacey and the guy were sent to Broward Health Medical Center.

While Lacey went home soon after the tragedy, Azir never did. His family was heartbroken to see him go at such a young age. They had hoped to celebrate his accomplishments at every step of his life, but they felt powerless in the face of fate’s intentions.

He had the chance to have his first day of school, and his first day would be his last, Nakisha explained. She was grieved after discovering of her “adoring” nephew’s untimely death. Nobody in the family was ready to accept the harsh reality. She continued, saying that it’s difficult to continue on without him because they feel as if somebody just stole them from Azir.

After the fatal accident, it just took a few seconds for tiny Azir’s life to end. His aunt recalls him as a brilliant young man who always spoke the truth and brightened their lives with his presence. The entire family was stunned and vowed to seek justice for their tiny bundle of joy.

The Florida Highway Patrol examined the collision after it occurred. They reviewed CCTV video and called the owner of the second vehicle involved in the collision. However, the owner was not driving at the time.

The tape revealed that the driver was a man of color, between the ages of 20 and 25, and was around five and a half feet tall. Soon after, the authorities received information on the individual from a witness.

After escaping the scene of the collision, the man hopped into another vehicle and asked the driver to take him to the hospital. While they were driving, the man wanted to be dropped off at the Toscana Place condominium complex in Davie, Florida.

Nakisha was taken aback by the man’s bravado in fleeing the scene of the collision. He did something “horrible,” she claimed, and he should have stopped there. She stated:

“You say you were concerned about your child’s safety, yet you abandoned someone else’s child on the side of the road as if he were nothing.”

“Stay; it may have been an accident. Why would you want to leave? They left, of course, since what they did was wrong,” Nakisha said. While the cops continued their investigation, she prayed that somebody would soon apprehend the man.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Azir’s family as they struggle with this tragic event. We send our heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved family.

Rest in peace sweet soul.
