Georgia Highway Tragedy Claims Life of 5-Year-Old Boy

A Georgia neighborhood is in grief for a kindergarten child who died as a consequence of wounds incurred while crossing a roadway.

Devin Estes was hit by a car just before 6 p.m. local time on Sunday, according to an accident report from Georgia State Police (GSP).

According to GSP, the 5-year-old was struck by a 2013 Toyota Corolla while crossing the roadway in the small hamlet of Tifton, Georgia, as the automobile was driving south on Georgia SR 35. The driver of the Corolla attempted to brake, but it was too late.

Estes was taken to Tift Regional Medical Center, where he died as a result of his wounds.

According to his obituary, a funeral ceremony for the kid, who attended G.O. Bailey Elementary, was set for Thursday morning.

Estes’ death was verified by school district authorities in a social media statement on Monday. “Tift County Schools mourns the loss of a member of our student body,” the district said in a Facebook statement. “Our thoughts and prayers are with the family during this difficult time.”

Devin Estes’ father, Adam Estes, expressed that he and his wife had no ill will against the 22-year-old female motorist who killed their son.

“Because this is as difficult for you to bear as it is for us.” “This was an unfortunate accident,” he stated.

“It’s been hard on us all,” he said of his son’s passing, “but we know he’s in a better place.”

His relatives and friends are now recalling the little youngster who “was always the light of the room.”

“Devin loved to color, write, he loved to dance, he loved Paw Patrol, and he loved his tablet,” according to his obituary. “He was very loved by many, and he loved everyone, especially his brothers.”

Devin is survived by two brothers, a sister, and other family members in addition to his parents.
