Girl’s Legend Reply When Her Father’s Friends Told Her “That’s not very ladylike”.

Kids are kids. They are innocent and express what they feel. Not pretentious. It is also critical that we teach our children not to be timid and to express themselves kindly. This is an excellent example of how this adorable little courageous child asserted herself when she required her father’s assistance. To read the entire story, scroll down.

My daughter is 3. And she is a little firecracker. We have made a point to make sure that she knows she has a voice, and shouldn’t shy away from her opinions. She is still learning about social queues and how to interact with people because (and I can’t stress this enough) she’s three.

Some of my husband’s work friends came over last night and they were having drinks and hanging out in the kitchen. I went upstairs to do laundry because I’m pretty introverted.

I thought my daughter was asleep, but she woke up and went downstairs to find her dad because she needed to poop. I wasn’t there for this, but this is how my husband told me the interaction went down.

My daughter tugged on his sleeve and told him she needed to go potty. He tried to excuse himself from his friends but his friends immediately started to flock around my daughter and tell her how cute she is. My husband is a pretty soft spoken man, and kept trying to find opportunities to excuse himself from the conversation. Apparently, my daughter decided she had enough of waiting and yelled over everyone: “EVERYBODY FREEZE!” Everyone went silent, then she continued “MY DADDY NEEDS TO TAKE ME TO MAKE A POOPOO”.

A lot of people laughed, and my husband was finally able to sneak away to help my daughter poop and wipe (She’s really scared she’ll fall in the toilet). When my husband came back with my daughter, a woman bends down and tells her “It’s not very ladylike to announce that you need to poop”. My daughter responded “I NEEDED TO POOPOO AND NO ONE WAS LISTENING TO ME”. My husband laughed and said “Well, she’s right”.

I am really happy with the way both my husband and daughter handled this situation. And I’m glad my daughter didn’t poop in her pajamas.
