Gwen Stefani’s recent appearance at Country Music Television’s 2023 Awards gala has split fans.
The 57th Country Music Television (CMT) Awards, held on Monday, April 3, in Austin, Texas, featured a star-studded lineup of performers.
Notwithstanding Gwen Stefani’s pop-princess reputation and the continuous popularity and play of her songs—Rich Girl’ and ‘The Sweet Escape’ are constants on my ‘Feel Good’ playlist—her performance at the awards ceremony elicited mixed reactions from viewers.
Together with husband Blake Shelton, Stefani sang ‘Just a Girl’ from her album ‘Tragic Kingdom,’ which was originally sung by rock band No Doubt.
The song, though, stunned both the live crowd and viewers at home since Stefani and Pearce performed a genre-bending remix of it.
Unfortunately, not all viewers connected with it.
Several fans and creatures of habit who flocked to CMT’s Instagram footage of the performance weren’t so pleased with the version.
Some Stefani fans, on the other hand, were far more receptive to the remix and flooded social media in favor of the singer.
