On Thanksgiving a family celebrated when their two-year-old child was discharged from the hospital after a heart transplant surgery.
Five months after Rocky Wayne was born in Sept. 2019 he was diagnosed with left ventricular non-compaction cardiomyopathy (LVNC). Before the hospital sent him home to wait for a donor, 123 days were spent by him in Jennifer Lawrence pediatric cardiac intensive care unit.
On Nov. 24 Lynne Choate the Norton Healthcare Public Relations Manager gave his parents the news that a heart had been offered.
On Thanksgiving day Rocky got his new heart and went back home to Bardstown to join with his older brothers on Tuesday.
Choate explained that the staff of Norton Children’s Hospital lined up down the hall to send dear Rocky home with a celebration parade.
