Jane Fonda has been diagnosed with cancer, the famed star disclosed this on social media.
The Grace & Frankie actress announced on Instagram that she has been diagnosed with non-lymphoma Hodgkin’s and has begun chemotherapy treatments.
In her declaration, Fonda, 84, expressed confidence, given the disease’s high survival rate.
Fonda stated that this is a fairly curable cancer. 80% of individuals survive, therefore she considers herself quite fortunate.
She is also fortunate in that she has health insurance and has access to the greatest physicians and therapies. She recognizes, and it hurts, that she is fortunate in this situation. Almost every family in America has dealt with cancer at some point, and far too many do not have recourse to the great health care she does, which is unacceptable.
The actress stated that she has been taking chemotherapy for six months and is “dealing with treatments fairly well.”
Fonda has stated that she will not allow cancer to prevent her from pursuing her passions. In addition to her acting career, Fonda has been a climate activist, and she has stated that she would continue her campaigning despite the sickness.
Cancer is a teacher, and she is listening to the insights it has in store for her, Fonda wrote. One thing it’s already taught her is the value of community. The process of expanding and developing one’s community so that they are not alone. And the disease, along with her age nearly 85 taught her the need of adapting to new circumstances.
Fonda has been a cinematic legend for decades, but she is also renowned as one of Hollywood’s most outspoken, and controversial, political advocates. Her major films include the Academy Award-winning Klute, the comedy 9 to 5, and the dramas Coming Home and 9 to 5.
She just finished a seven-season tenure in the hit Netflix series Grace and Frankie, alongside Lily Tomlin.
We wish the legendary actress Jane Fonda a full and fast recovery as she fights cancer.
