Officer Brian Zagorski works with the Niles Police Department in Illinois. One day, Brian came across a homeless man. He watched him as he tripped on the rubber soles that were peeling off of his shoes. So Brian stopped and talked to him. He asked the man if he needed any supplies, toiletries and such, that were offered free by the department. But the man declined.
Then Brian asked the man what his shoe size was. After he was told, Brian reached down and slipped off his shoes and gave them to the man. They wore the exact same size. And the homeless man was very grateful.
Says the officer: “I was happy. I made a difference, and that’s essentially what we sign up to do, is to make a difference.”
And that he did.
