Let’s take a trip back in time to when you were 6 years old. What would have made you very happy back then at that time? How about your parents showing you for the first time your new brother or sister?
For some, that might have given the unwanted feeling of having to share a parent’s attention. But for most, it would have been more than welcome; a new friend that you could share your playtime with.
In Aiken, South Carolina, parents Dale and Erin had just had brought a new baby daughter into the world and they wanted to show her to their 6-year-old daughter, Addy.
They were pretty sure Addy was going to be pretty happy to see her new sister. But they sure didn’t expect her actual reaction. So it’s a good thing that a camera was recording when she first walked into the hospital room. It’s a video that was posted soon after on social media and has been viewed more than 380,000 times.
The video shows Addy walking very slowly into her mother’s hospital room and toward her mom and her new baby sister just moments after she was born. She had such excitement on her face. When she gets to the bed and sees her sister for the first time, her eyes open wide, and she is overcome with emotion.
Erin tell Addy that Madison will love her so much. And Addy says “She’s so cute,” and she starts to cry. Then she repeated that her new sister was so cute. And then mom Erin became overwhelmed by Addy’s reaction to her new sister. And both of them cried tears of happiness. And instantly, Addy formed a great bond with her new sister.
