Man with Down Syndrome fired from Wendy’s without notice after working there for over 20 years, say family

Dennis Peek, of Gaston County, North Carolina, has been working at a Wendy’s for almost two decades, as per reports. His family claims that he had planned to retire shortly but was unable to do so since he was fired.

What’s the reason? According to his relatives, Wendy’s dismissed him since “he couldn’t execute his job like a regular person.”

Not only that, but Dennis’s family claims he was dismissed without any warning.

She is out here as she needs to be his voice for the way he was abused, his sister, Cona Turner, said.

Turner went on to say that her brother had worked at the same Wendy’s for over 22 years.

When she inquired why, she was informed he couldn’t execute his tasks, she explained.

She and the rest of her family are at a loss as to how they can convey to Dennis that he can no longer work at Wendy’s.

He doesn’t comprehend, and they can’t tell him he’s been fired. They haven’t told him, and they’re not going to tell him, Turner said.

However, there is still hope.

According to sources, Turner’s social media post voicing her dissatisfaction drew a lot of attention. She then got a call from Carolina Restaurant Group, which manages and owns the Wendy’s in issue, and was informed Dennis may be returned the following week.

My brother Dennis has worked at Wendy’s in Stanley for over 20 years and I am heart broken to say they have fired…

Carolina Restaurant Group stated in a statement, they are dedicated to maintaining a friendly and open atmosphere for their staff and their guests. This was an unfortunate error and lack of process; they have contacted the employee’s family and look forward to welcoming him back to the restaurant.

However, Dennis is completely unconscious of what is going on around him. He’s been a diligent worker for almost 20 years and is now ready to retire.

Dennis’s family is split between allowing him to return to his former employment and throwing him an early retirement celebration.

Dennis was in a terrible predicament after so many years of devotion. Let’s hope that things can be worked out so that he may retire happy.
