On what would have been Jayne Mansfield’s 90th birthday, Mariska Hargitay paid homage to her late mother.

The Law & Order: SVU actress posted a picture of her mother on Instagram with a beautiful remark.

“Happy birthday Mama. We live to love you more each day,” Hargitay wrote.

On her Instagram Story, the actress also posted a small clip of her mom in Will Success Spoil Rock Hunter?

Mansfield, who was born Vera Jayne Palmer on April 19, 1933, rose to prominence as one of Hollywood’s greatest blonde bombshells in the 1950s and 1960s. She was viewed as an alternative to Marilyn Monroe, dubbed the “working man’s Monroe.”

She was not just a Playboy Playmate, but she also appeared in films such as The Girl Can’t Help It, Promises! Promises!, and The Sheriff of a Fractured Jaw.

Her life was tragically cut short when she was murdered in an automobile accident in 1967. Mansfield was 34 years old.

Hargitay, who was three years old at the time, was riding in the backseat with two of her brothers. Mansfield, her attorney and friend Sam Brody, and their driver Ronnie Harrison were all slain instantly.

She thinks she learned about crises when she was a kid, and she learned when she was a kid that s— happens and there are no guarantees, and they keep going. In 2021, she said, and added that then they transform it. That’s kind of been her superpower, along with the gift of having trauma early in life.

She continued that she definitely was in that frozen place for a lot of her childhood, actually trying to survive. Her life has been a process of unpeeling the layers of trust and trusting again.

Jayne, happy beautiful birthday!
